The forum software is kinda weird, no money for that fancy stuff. You should be able to post up under the Introduce Yourself forum. Once you're in a forum there may or may not be topics that you can post into. If not, you can start a topic in that forum.
After some headaches this weekend getting the website updated and refreshed it's finally back online with some upgrades. Most notable a forum. Because we have people here and people on Facebook I thought I'd give one location for communication between people a go. Head on over, sign up, and give...
Our meetup for our northern brethren is happening this coming Saturday August 5th. Right now there is some plans for doing an overnight Friday, run some trails Saturday, and then overnight after the meetup also.

@Tinker was kind enough to run a time lapse video this weekend. I've got tons of other footage (some turned out great and some didn't) that I'm going to get uploaded over the next few weeks.
I wanted to try and get one in this year. It was supposed to be 4th of July week but it ended up not working out. Maybe we can start planning one for next year in the late Fall timeframe. I definitely want to get up there to explore some other parts.
I've lived here my entire life and have to get up there enough to explore a good portion of it. Glad you enjoyed it. I'll stand by what I say to most people in that Michigan is underrated in terms of overlanding/adventure related things to do. Maybe because we want to keep it all to ourselves...
That sucks man. Apparently we were pretty close to you guys. I didn't get your message about where you were at until later in the day. Like @Tinker said , some HAM radios will probably be in the future. The CBs worked great line of (and sort of) line of site.
I love my hammock (Eno Sleep System) and I take it with me everywhere. The problem I have is actually sleeping in it. I really need to save and get an underquilt rather than trying to get into a sleeping bag.
Yes. If I remember correctly right at Kinney Rd there's the start of a trail. If you follow it straight back it curves south closer to the river. The camp site is a larger clearing overlooking the river.
Does anyone run the Ram Mounts on a similar platform? I'm looking at a ball mount, long extension, and the iPad mini mount. I'm not sure if that'll work for mounting on the passenger side console or if a Ram Pod would be better. OR just to throw it in there, what would be a comparable alternative?
I've been on some of these but I tired to go with anything that looked promising. I didn't hit anything that was unpassable (except one spot) last time I was there. Most of the trails will accommodate smaller SUVs pretty easily. I run a Suburban and had no issues getting anywhere.
West of Baldwin on the river. That's if we can't get back to it. It was open last time we were there. I'm hoping it still is. I'll have a map done here in the next few days for everyone to look at.
