We're making progress! In fact we have the system installed and tested. Now to run the wires back to our outlet panel. The video will be slightly delayed due to me being off on the measurement of the cables going to the rear. So, we need to splice in another 18" using an Anderson plug. That...
We first considered using the Goose Gear plate so yes, it's very similar. We're using a more secure way of bolting it to the body though. And we're working on mounting points stronger then t-nuts.
We’re looking for hardware ideas on how to secure a bank of drawers to a base plate we’re developing for our ’17 4R. What are you using? We’re hitting a mental block and desperately need some ideas and inspiration.
An idea we’re working on is recessing a C channel into the base and having...
You really made our day, thanks!!!
Another little bit of advice we can give you; after using the system we installed in the 4R for some time now we came to the conclusion that for airing up, the tank isn't necessary. If / when we do it again we'll just install a 400 series with no tank.
Show us your terminals please.
I've been looking for a set of aftermarket battery terminals for a while now and haven't found anything that's perfect for what I want. Some have come close, but I'm a bit picky. Can you post up a pic of what you're using along with where you got them?
Right now...
Are you using it just to air up your tires?
Either an ARB or Viair compressor would be a good choice for that. We also prefer mounted units. Our FJ Cruiser has a Viair 400 series under the hood. Our 4R has a Viair Medium Duty unit including 2 1/2 gallon tank mounted in the rear.
Both systems...
Well, this project has taken longer than we expected but as they say, good things come to those who wait. :)
Most all the parts are sitting on the bench. There's a little wiring to do on the outlet panel. Should be up and running soon!
For what you are using it for and the tires you have, 25 should give you a nice ride on rough gravel. Going lower may cause damage to the sidewalls over time.
Battery, Battery Mount, and Position of Mount
It's possible to pay a boat load of money for a battery if we wanted to. We didn't want to. After a lot of research we decided on a Duracell Ultra Platinum, AGM, BCI Group 34M, Deep Cycle, Dual Purpose battery from our local Batteries+ store...
What started us down this path to dual batteries was the inconvenience of buying ice for the cooler almost every day. Forever our trips have been partially routed and planned according to where we could buy ice. We would often times drive many, many miles out of our way in order to keep our food...
I started this thread to chronicle the dual battery system we’re currently putting together. It’s being installed in a ’17 Toyota 4Runner but can easily be adapted to just about any vehicle.
I’ve got some experience in wiring lights and building fuse/relay panels, but for this project I’ve...
We live a little NE of Rockford. If you need assistance maybe we can help. We have a little experience building out Toyotas. Chitown is a great shop. They're having a Toys- 4-Tots meet this Saturday. Maybe a good time to check them out.
