For me it all depends on the trip. If i see a place and think "i want to go there" then ill use google maps or my handheld garmin to take me there. If i feel like waking up that day and going exploring, then its just me and the Jeep and wherever the road takes me, which is usually some pretty...

As for the axle swap and lockers, The axle i chose to go with comes with e-lockers installed already. and the axle upgrade isnt just to benefit me for this trail...
What type of plan are you looking at? Im in the fayetteville area, work with the military and we have an entire "free to use" metal shop, or i could do it at the house. Plus, im probably going to do the same for myself.
I spend ALOT of time in the NC/SC mountains and Copperheads, Cotton Mouths, Water Mocassins, Timber and Diamondback Rattlesnakes are EVERYWHERE. I see atleast a few everytime i go camping. My Solution is a Taurus Judge with a .410 round or a rock/stick. I understand snakes are living creatures...
minor update --- Just ordered a full set of Pro Comp Pre-Runner shocks.
I checked out the Pax Rax. They look simple enough that i can make my own version of them for less than $50. So, i might be doing that.

over about the past.....ehhh,, 3 years or so, i see a turtle almost every time i hit a trail.
It used to be a rare treat to be able to stop and help a turtle across, but it seems much more common (atleast to me) in the past few years
