I’ve been running a 4 gal rotopax on an Evo spare tire mount when I need it but decided to try out the AEV fuel caddy. Definitely a clean look and holds an easy 10 gallons fully loaded. I tested it out once so far and am pretty happy with it. The siphon works well but it is difficult to get all...
I’ll be driving the jeep out to Colorado at the end of July into August so have been doing some prep. First up was a Dynatrac progrip brake upgrade. I’ve been meaning to upgrade the factory brakes for a while after the 37’s, but watching videos of steep declines on trails towards cliff edges...
Moab has always been on my mind but honestly didn’t even realize it was less than a few hours from Telluride. Any idea how busy it is around the first week of August? I’m sure it is ridiculously hot at that time, but I could maybe swing a day or two after CO.
@Biker Eagle
I appreciate the info! I booked a nice condo on air bnb in Telluride from July 28-Aug 4 to keep the gf happy. So that location should be pretty close to some of those suggestions. I’m really hoping the fire situation isn’t an issue anymore by the time I’m out there.
@Boort
Thanks for writing all that info up. Definitely a lot of options, and as I thought, most of the state is probably a photo opportunity compared to where I’m coming from. I’ll be leaving at the end of July so will check the fire closures as the date approaches. Thanks again.
I’m planning a drive out to the CO area from NY late July into August. My ride will be my daily driver - ‘16 JKUR, 3.5” lift, 37” Cooper STT Pros, manual trans, Zeon 10S, assorted other mods. It just rolled 17,000 miles and has no issues. I’ll attach a couple pics below but have more and all the...
Thanks guys. I am still considering the rack to carry some extra items, but have been trying to curb the spending for a bit.
Tritonl- thanks for the heads up. I’m on experticity but never thought to look for the rack on there. I’ll check it out.
Yea, simple is good. Sometimes I wish I went more low key/no stinger with the front bumper but it is well built and will definitely protect the winch. I looked all over when I bought this jeep to find one with as few options as possible. Only extra option this one came with was the connectivity...
It’s been a while and really haven’t done much else too exciting to the jeep. Chromoly axle shafts went in not too long ago and basically just been driving the heck out of it. Here’s a couple pics from a trip to Maine last week that had me driving the jeep for about 20 hours over 2 days (there...
Well I just found this thread and went through all 10 pages. I’m a jeep guy but the wagon and what you’re doing with it are pretty cool. Good to see another NY overlander enjoying the Catskills too!
Welcome from across the sound. Get yourself on google earth or Gaia maps and start looking around the Catskills region. Lots of great areas to get out and explore over there not too far from us
I wouldn’t have any hesitations going with the rhino rack. I don’t think I’ve even seen a negative review based on quality or strength. Unless you go with a cage type rack like a Gobi, I think the rhino rack is the way to go.
Thanks. I wanted a rack for a while, and if I got one, it would be the quick release rhino rack. My Jeep barely fits in the garage as it is now so I wouldn’t want to leave the rack on all the time when I didn’t really need it. I might look into the idea again after the winter
