Well, the Audi is gone and it freed up some money for Xterra parts. While I’m going to hold off until closer to spring to order my fridge, I decided to pull the trigger on some recovery points since upgraded bumpers aren’t necessarily on my short list.
Hopefully they show up later this week...
I’ve got a civic to daily so theoretically I could do the steel bumper but I just really love the look of the mount and the stock bumper. I don’t plan on doing anything crazy so angles aren’t a huge issue to me and stock bumpers are a dime a dozen if I kill one lol
Took advantage of the warmer weather today and got my sliders installed on the X. And with that, I think I’m done with modifying it for the next couple months. Going to do some maintenance on the daily and on this, as well as try to determine whether I go full steel bumper or just winch mount...
We were looking over the cost sheet. A lot of things didn’t make sense so he’s going to challenge them. They have a gas tank on there and neither of us can figure out what that could be about
It’s at a friend of a friends body shop now so he’s going to look at it and give him a better breakdown...
My buddy and I were planning a trip for next weekend to knock out more of the Kentucky Adventure Trail and do some camping but thanks to a distracted driver we’re gonna have to postpone it. My roommate called when my buddy and I were at dinner and asked me to describe his car and just responded...
Really love the Xterra community, coming from a VERY tight knit b5 community it’s definitely important to me.
Pulled the X out of the garage for a test drive, 0 CBC and no odd noises. Getting it aligned tomorrow and hopefully breaking it in on Saturday with some of the OB:Southeast members.
Yeah, I’ll be upgrading in a bit. I just needed to get it back on the road but I think I’ll have some CBC so it may have to come sooner than later.
Can’t wait to break it in, was definitely a fun little project. My buddy has a parts lantern he said I could rebuild if I wanted to.
Thank you! Yeah haha I’ve noticed that. I think because they’re cheaper and as capable as 4runners people are realizing they’re good little rigs. (Also have less frame rust issues)
Yes they do. And depending on the model (off-road, pro 4-x) they have rear e-locker and downhill assist from the...
Good news! My sliders showed up! But it’ll be a bit before they’re on, I need to coat them still.
Pulled the Audi outside and decided to knock out pads, rotors and an oil change on the X. The brakes went so smoothly that I decided to try to tackle the lift again... and that’s where everything...
Winch and mount are the short list. I more or less bought the sliders as a point to stand on and add a little bit of extra protection since the Western Kentucky part of the KAT can get a bit rocky.
I was definitely expecting much worse when I pulled them out. The car runs so much smoother now...
Not a whole lot going on lately. Been waiting on my buddy to pick up the Audi so I can get my lift on. So in the mean time, I’ve been trying to keep busy.
Managed to knock out the spark plugs (which were a PITA) because my buddy believes they’re the original ones and at 180k it definitely...
Oh most definitely, I’ve got a set of coils sitting in the garage waiting to go on and some sliders that should be here in the next couple of weeks. Definitely going to push myself a little further out of my comfort zone next time
You’re not kidding, I’m having way more fun that I ever did in...
Took the X out for the first time to see what it could do. I love this thing. My friend and I put in about 170 miles through KY backroads along the Kentucky Adventure Trail
[continued from the original post]
-Purchased and installed some Navara hood struts to replace the saggy, stock prop
-Managed to find a set of lightly used Nisstec 5100 coilovers for a great price that I just couldn’t pass up (I’m going to use the 2” rear shackle from the previous kit for a...
A couple months ago I decided to part ways with a car that I’ve had for the past 8 years (but hadn’t driven in almost 4) and go a different direction.
I traded in the low life for something more practical, an ‘09 Nissan Xterra Off-Road with 175k, that had been owned by a close friend who...
