Hope you enjoy hoisting a tire up on your roof rack, and then having to get it back down again when you need it... maybe try that first before comitting to the idea. (Plus that takes away valueable space for other things on the roof)
Even though it takes up space inside, it’s really a great...
Roof top tent and a flip pop tent from front runner if you need more sleeping space.
That way you can get rid of the anchor and all the maintenance and upkeep that goes along with it.

It was a $2500 build using my EP, which equated to about a $4000 bike, and that was ten years ago. I enjoyed it for a few years, raced it a little, then parted it out because of our family’s riding behavior changing with kids and stuff.
The most I do these days is wheelie down the Boise...
I’m a big fan of the Genesis geometry on the mid 90s and later Gary Fishers. Short chainstays and a long top tube equals great wheelies, and billy goat climbing...
This was my previous bike, when I worked at a bike shop and got EP (employee purchase) on everything...

No offense guys, but those are some cheap products... they may do okay, but I wouldn’t trust my sensitive laptop to one...
I’m a Navy Electronics tech, so I understand inverting principles, and I’m a previous RV’er, and now work at an RV shop.
If you really want to do it right, get a Xantrex...
Thank you! We have a 2006 F150 as well, it has few miles than the Expedition, and I use it on my short commute to work. The Fords have been good to us so far... In this instance I’m glad we didn’t get an EL. That overhang in the back wouldn’t offroad quite as well.

Today was another great test day. Rack works perfectly, rooftop tent and cases didn’t move it all. I didn’t touch anything on the rack the whole trip, but that’s what the test was for, to make sure it held up an offer and conditions and 75 mph freeway driving.
My next step will be to build...
I personally don't recommend flushing, but you can easily do a complete system drain & fill by unhooking the line between the tranny and tranny cooler, dropping it in a bucket, turning on the car for 5 seconds at a time to evacuate fluid (using the tranny pump itself), then add the same amount...
Pick the 4runner if you want cheaper parts, and more readily available parts from stores and salvage yards.
Pick the Land Rover if you want people to think you have money.
They are both pretty capable offroad.

I do all my own. Back in 2004 our 2 year old Mitsubishi Lancer needed a timing belt. The dealer wanted $375 to do the work. The belt was only $75. I talked to my wife about the idea of buying $300 in tools, and a timing belt, and doing it myself.
Since then I’ve progressed to rebuilding atv...
Reset the Plano Sportsman Trunks today.
One is for cookware. We use a lot of backpacking stuff because it is lightweight and nests well. MSR is a great company for this.
Second is for 5 sleeping bags, pillows, hammock. This could eventually lessen if we keep three bags and pillows in the RTT...
Yep, anything like that works... i just use apple because all our music is on itunes, and we have 150 itunes movies... plus its just simpler for us because the OS is pretty much the same as our phones, so no learning curve.

The operating system, or iOS, takes up about 2-3GB, each movie is about 2GB (x50 movies), plus music (which is pretty small really)... plus downloaded Gaia maps for offline use (I download high res maps of where i’m going before each trip)... i like to try to keep 10-12GB free at any given time...
I bought an iPad Air2 with 128GB of storage for $350 last year. It’s excellent for trips, can be used in any car, plane, or home, and the itunes movies never scratch like dvds. We love it, and are super glad we got it instead of any car mounted system...
Don’t bother with an GPS iPad. It’s only assisted gps, not the real thing. If you really want it to work in the middle of nowhere you need a gps receiver, like the Bad elf.
I used mine all day today in the wilderness of Oregon with no cell signal, and it was flawless. I had it bluetoothed to...
