I have been considering this myself.. I have a 3in lift on my XJ but the generic white cheap shocks beat me to death. Is it a noticeable difference and they just bolt right in right??

For me the ringing in my ears seems to go away when I am in remote places with no electronics.. The quieter the better..

It can be pushing fuel through the lines but not with enough pressure to open up the injectors. You may have a weak fuel pump.

I am thinking of doing some Geocaches for Overland Bound in local areas. And yes, TWAT so far seems to be a go. Probably next summer as I have no time to plan an event this year and have another baby due in December, so between baby-season, Expo East and life in general I can't make it happen...
