My 1985 BJ70 JDM "Little Blue"

That’s awesome. What are you averaging for MPG? With the KMs and the tent they’ve got to be cutting it. Do you have before and after MPG?

The seating reminds me of the Honda Element. The people in the back are elevated so they can see out the front window as well

    2000 Dodge Dakota

Yeah I get awful gas mileage. Usually carry 2-3 Jerry cans with me at any time. Granted the rooftop tent wasn’t helping matters. Good to know about that pinion nut. I’m always apprehensive about the transmission since they are a well known to be one of the trucks weakest parts. Interesting...

    2000 Dodge Dakota

So far I used the rooftop tent twice since we’ve been doing a lot of backpacking instead of car camping. Last night two zippers broke and the hard foldout shell has a lot of damage just from the cars movement making the loose legs rub against the tent making holes. Luckily I bought it from REI...

    spices??

That’s exacrly what we do too. Plus the metal ammo cans really put a good seal on things. I usually carry pepper, salt, Chinese five spice, garlic salt, Cajun seasoning and curry.

    Who cooks with a Wok?

We have been using a 18” wok for basically all of our cooking needs other than brats. It’s easy to boil water in it, cook noodles, stir fry, cook meat or just heat up left overs. Cuts down on a lot of cooking gear we need to bring. Plus woks can come in a multitude of different sizes and...

Unfortunately I’ll be in New York visiting the Missus over those days but when I get back to Livingston, MT I’ll be down for more off road shenanigans.

    2000 Dodge Dakota

I ended up picking up a Yakima Skyrise Rooftop Tent and installing that. Works well for two people. Little tight overall. For navigation I put in an iPad running the Gaia GPS app. Is also nice because my girlfriend can watch movies on it if she gets bored. I ended up getting two spare KO2s for...

Rooftop Tents on Sale @ REI

Right now rooftop tents are almost 30% off there. Not sure how long that will last.

    2000 Dodge Dakota

I’m fairly new to overland experiences. I had a 2007 Ranger that I modified into a pre runner that I loved but due to an accident with some local wildlife while responding for my local fire department I was left without a ride. I ended up picking a 2000 Dodge Dakota 4x4 with the 4.9 V8. Only had...

Dual Battery and Solar Panel System Questions

Noticed you’re in Bozeman, did you take it someplace and have it installed by a company or did you do it yourself? I have a 2000 Dakota I’m trying to modify with a two battery system.
