I have a tri-band antenna currently on a magnet mount. You can probably guess, with a full size overland rig, every tree wants to nock my antenna off. I've looked for NMO springs but I can't find any. There are UHF springs, most are labeled CB.
I'd like to move to a permanent drill through...
This is an old thread and TLDR.
Just wanted to share photos of overlanding with my dog!
The dogs were even relaxed when a wolf walked up! And you read this on the internet so you know that was a real wolf! [emoji6]
Recently I helped a friend with some welding to install custom sliders on his moderately lifted 2008 4Runner. Then last week he said he wanted to go to the rubicon to test them out. So I checked the weather, 100% rain/snow till the weekend, then partially cloudy.
Hey looks it's sunny during the...
I wear water proof leather work boots that support my ankles. I also use them when wrenching, hiking, gardening, walking... Today I'm wearing Lacrosse leather boots with a formed sole and steel toe. Previously I had a very cheap pair of Coleman branded work boots, they last for a long time some...
Can I say a beer? Last and next thing to buy is a beer!
Also I bought a new pump for my OBA, a great thing to have on a rig.

Anyone else have some old iron power wagon love? Buddy of mine has a retired forest service rig I believe it's like a 64, with a utility box on the back.

I don't think anybody has mentioned it so I will: I use mostly paper plates, so I burn them in the camp fire. Reusables are washed. I produce very little trash except for recyclables (aka beer cans). I usually crush then just throw them in a box or trash bag.
Occasionally I use real military...
Cool seeing this here. If possible, your local forest service may have classes / certification. I did this years ago so I could use a saw while volunteering and it's impressive the tips they have that I was missing. Simple thing for me was someone recommended to stop bending over and extended...
I carry both a stock bottle (scew style) jack and high lift style (aka farm jack, smittybilt currently) that I've used allot. While I think almost every use has been covered, I'll recap what I've used mine for:
- chaining the axle and lifting over 2 feet up when I've rolled a bead and the truck...
This discussion has been going on since before overlanding was coined to mean living out of a vehicle. From the many blue in the face discussions about every word applied to motorized / wheeled sports (overlanding, 4 wheeling, motorcycling, snowmobiling, bicycling and even horse back), in the...
Way to rock the square headlights and leafs, I dig the diesel swap.
And since you shared, congrats on kicking cancers ass, keep on rocking that jeep!

I dig the vintage iron and that your building it yourself! Love that your kids are helping! Gives them that pride of coming back from a trip and think about how they help build the rig that got them home safe.
I also have a np203/205 doubler waiting to go into my bronco, good call on the triple...
I've posted about my bronco, but I thought I'd share another rig I'm building. This one is a smaller early 1964 Kaiser Willys CJ5, and I'm doing some upgrades. The goal is an upgraded "modern" drive terrain that can cruise with a mild build that's not far from stock looking.
1964 Kaiser Willys...
