Look into a nice used 24-105mm or a 24-70mm,it will be a nice jump in quality of the lens. If that is too much you can look at other makers that offer a canon mount. Sigma or Tamron.

Had the Wildpeaks since November, great tire, the warranty is good as well 55k or 60k.

Just exploring google maps you will run into camp sites, people leave reviews of places they visited including dispersed sites. Follow a dirt road on google maps, see where it leads, you can tell if there is campsites along it.
