Thank you. These are 285/70/17 and I am running KM3s on trails. They are wonderful off road and dreadful on the highway. I have a second set of wheels with KO2s and I quite enjoy them on them on fire roads and on the highway.
It looks like you and Alice did a few of the iconic passes in Colorado. Congratulations!! How did Alice and her IFS do on some of the off-camber sections on Black Bear? Was her turning radius reasonable on the switch backs? I am hoping that you’ll post some about those experiences.

Thanks for the link. Here is a link to a video done about 4x4 in Canyonlands. This one is exceptionally well done too. In outdoor education, when we are looking to change behavior, it is critical that people understand the “why” as well as the “what”.
KO2s (C rated) are my daily driver tires. I love them on pavement and on forrest roads. I recently purchased a slightly used set of KM3s and put them on a second set of wheels. Off-road they are phenomenal. On the pavement they are terrible. I really do like the luxury of having two sets of tires.
+1 on the DO YOUR RESEARCH advice. When possible I’ve started purchasing directly from manufacturers to avoid some of the Amazon concerns. Recently I purchased recovery gear and went directly to Factor55. It gives me more confidence that the gear isn’t counterfeit and I believe that it is also...
Wow, super scary. I am glad that you are ok. I have KO2s that are about a year old with 18k on them and your experience gives me pause.
Can I ask if your tires are C or E rated?
Please do keep us posted on the outcome. Be safe and be well!
I purchased my T4R 10 months ago. It was exactly the wrong time to buy a 4Runner in CA. That said, I’ve put 20k miles on it in that time and can’t remember ever having enjoyed so many awesome adventures. I have a new appreciation for the desert and for this community.
Please share one of your favorite trails with us. What is it? Where is it? What makes it stand out for you?

This thread is a bit stale. I’ve been running Gaia and OnX for several months. So far there isn’t a clear winner for me. I prefer trip planning with Gaia and I prefer the mobile user interface with OnX. However I had an issue with OnX once when an offline map wouldn’t load. I was glad to have...
I’ve been using OnX and Gaia for mapping and nav (still trying to decide which better meets my needs). I like that I can use them on iPad and iPhone hardware that I already own. I also like that I have redundancy with two pieces of hardware.
