Far and away the best/most reliable vehicle I've ever owned is my 2011 Silverado 2500 HD (that I bought new, still have now, and will be buried in). I have a 2007 Tahoe that serves as a DD/MTB vehicle and has 167k on the clock all stock drivetrain and is awesome (and in theory, it's "the worst"...
Seems like a poor way to open this topic. I wouldn't make a post asking about travel to Australia (where I've actually spent significant time) with "how bad is Australian...". I would counter with a jab about the Australian auto industry, but hey all AUS brands are just subsidiaries of US...
Are you looking for a hardwall, or a pop-up? What are your requirements (i.e. do you need a "real" bathroom and shower inside, do you want a full build-out or a "shell" you can DIY, what areas/climates will you use it in, what stuff do you need to take with you, etc.)?
Personally I still...
All modern vehicles have EVAP systems for fuel tank ventilation. In short, the EVAP canister traps all fuel vapors from the fuel tank/system, and when the engine is running they're sent to the intake tract to be burned off. Trust me, the EPA wouldn't let us run around in vehicles that vent raw...
I never realized how many fellow nautical enthusiasts we had here, and crazy how terrible we all are at it. I too lost all of mine in a boating accident. Now, if I *were* to make a recommendation for carrying when Overlanding (or any camping) it'd be the same suggestion I make when it comes to...
Got a little closer over the last few days with some tuning. Running into starter issues with heat soak. We've wrapped the header and are going to a gear-reduction unit to hopefully remedy that situation. Starter issue caused us to miss our tune appointment this Tues, unfortunately that...
In addition to my street-legal Overland rigs, I've had a slew of RZRs (out here on the West Coast we call them SxSs or UTVs, to me ATVs is a "four wheeler" you ride, not sit in and drive). Anyway, I sold my last RZR a year or so ago, because I've had a Speed (Robby Gordon's new company) on...
I drove the truck from Vegas to Palo Alto on Monday (with the FWC still on the back). Honestly I'm super impressed with how smooth and stable the ride is now with the whole new rear suspension. I'm sure it's some combination of flaws in the previous setup (factory leaf/Deaver pack starting to...
You're correct that it was a replacement to the XJ (OG Cherokee) but it does not share "frames" with the XJ (XJ is a true unibody. The Liberty was built on Jeep's new concept "uniframe" that's sort of full length frame rails encapsulated in a unibody. Anyway, still a great, underappreciated...
It seems like a score for the money!!! Do you know of any current issues with it? What are your plans for it? I don't think most people realize the Liberty is a pseudo body-on-frame, solid rear axle rig with a real transfer case (and 4LO) and a great, underappreciated platform.

Got the camper back on and took it and my RV to the Mint 400 for a shakedown (@orange01z28 for scale):
The top of the FWC popped up is nearly as high as the RV. I’m going to bring the front back down an inch or two, then set the rear air to match which will get the four link bars...
