My father has a similar problem, which explains how my brother and I come by some of the tools we own...Dad ends up with 3 and then gives us one each. hell, I've ended up with 2 chainsaws because he can't find the other ones.
I probably would just not have been able to find them, bought new ones, installed them, and then found the ones I already had, then put those away somewhere "safe" so I'd remember, and then repeated the process a few years down the road.
Mine's not quite as old as most listed here, but I'm running a 1998 Chevy Suburban 2500 454 with full-float rear axle. We call him Chuck. Picked him up a little more than a year ago with under 160K miles for $2200. Build thread link in my signature.
Sounds like you got a great deal!
I think to some level or another, we're all assholes, and the sooner we can accept that, the better off we'll be in life.
I haven't done it before either, but I'm always up for new challenges! I figure it can't be too bad.
Like the F350...this was on my shortlist when considering rigs, though I was hoping for a PowerStroke in it. Hard to find something around here with less than 300K miles, though.
Just a quick update: haven't done much in the way of work but have the following parts I've been gathering up and will be working on--these are more on the maintenance side of things:
EGR Valve replace
ECT Sensors replace
AT pressure switch replace
Front brake discs, calipers
New front lugs and...
I definitely will post them. Link to the build thread is in my signature if you haven't already checked it out. I have a bunch of stuff lined up before I get there though. Lots of maintenance stuff coming up immediately though...brake discs and calipers, egr valve, temp sensors. Unfortunately...
Yeah it is. I've already removed mine and it's been sitting on the roof (it doesn't fit when you bump up to a full size spare with 35s), but working on a swing-away option, hopefully in the not too distant future. IN place of it right now I have a small inverter wired to my house battery, hoping...
While I live in Davis County, I spend most of my time in West Jordan where my job is located...but rarely bring Chuck down here since it would run me through like 10 gallons of gas in a day to do a round trip!
