Recent upgrade to the F250, a front receiver installed on frame rails, and a Badlands 12000lb wench. Already used for some heavy yard work, it moves cut trees very easily. I know theres more expensive types out there but Harbor Freight did well with this one.
Preparing for a trip west, heading out on October 14 for 2 days near Grayson Highlands State park for some quiet time. Campsite has no amenities except an outhouse. No electricity or running water, but is near a stream for fishing. Pictures to follow, this should be nice.
It was a great time this weekend, just relaxing around the campfire and fishing with brothers from other mothers. 4 brothers who served together in Iraq and Afghanistan. We've decided it must be a regular event regardless of location.
Our first annual Barbecue/Beer, Bivouac & Bourbon on the Blackwater River was a success. Just 4 brothers from other mothers who served together in Iraq and Afghanistan relaxing around the campfire for the weekend.
A short trip up to Breaks Interstate Park this past weekend, at the Kentucky/Virginia/Tennessee border. Unfortunately the campsite was closed until April, beautiful place though on top of the mountain.
Farewell to my loyal friend Big Red, my 94 F150 since 2009, we've been through rain, snow, flooding and even a small tornado. He's going to a good home and now I can finish the upgrades on the F250.
If you have time to do some good prep work, sanding, cleaning etc. You would be surprised how nice of a paint job that you can do with Rustoleum, mixed with Acetone and some hardener.
My 2000 Super Duty XLT has 215000 miles on the original 5.4 Triton 2V, is it fast? Nope. Does it make huge torque and horsepower? Nope. But for all the cussing and discussion of the Triton (& I don't trust the 3 valve either) this old first gen with standard type spark plugs has been reliable...
I can't really see myself living long enough to ever trust an electric vehicle of any type. I've never purchased new, and for me to begin trusting a platform takes about 10-15 years minimum. I'm a Ford guy from way back and as many great reviews as I've seen about the Ecoboost...I still don't...
I've always gotten the best all around performance from a good AT, snow isn't really a issue in the SE except on rare occasions, and the AT performs well in mud and even at the beach on full sand. The MT tends to dig into sand if you're not careful.
LOL...yes Sir, I'm literally trying to use whatever I already have, I'm sure the Veterans (ex military) will appreciate the old school "woobie" given to me by dear old Dad. Its Vietnam vintage.
