Started early , dad was an outdoors guy, and mom was too. 5 kids and a dog in the back of stationwagon with a very basic camping gear and off we would go fishing in the backend of nowhere in British Columbia. Seems like a 1000 years ago now, I just never stopped.
@TacoCat64 If it helps I told your story to an old friend of mine, he is in his mid 60's too and tend to have a heavy foot off road. He not so tactfully noted (chortled gleefully in fact) that I once got all 6 wheels of an army 2 1/2 ton off the ground using too much speed going through a tank...
@TacoCat64 I will give you the land rover advice as slow as possible and as fast as necessary. You are better to take a second run than get heavy on the skinny pedal.
But we have to learn, and least it is just parts.
Out east of Manning Park BC a week ago, yes there was snow :grinning:. The disco purred along a like a champ as always
What passes for the US/Canada border in a lot of BC, US on the left side of the cut line, Canada on the right. Unidentified Object 62 in the air to the left
@CR-Venturer @highboy4x4 Yea Bryna is playing pretty quick and loose with the rules. It is velocity and impact energy, not one or the other, but like all firearms regulation is Canada is a nightmare to figure out, ask any airsoft guy. As the stated purpose is self defense that would make it...
A good Sunday out above Chilliwack British Columbia, 04 V8 land rover Discovery II coming up on 300000KM/186500 miles. 10 Rovers in all from and Series II to an Lr4
@Tommys Odd but just bad luck then which, while not ideal is always the best if they are going to search your truck. Personal small sized pepper spray has gotten to be a problem up here, thanks to the usual thugs. We have to sign for full sized canisters and small ones were going to be banned...
To add to the information overload, I have overlanded in everything from an 80's Honda Accord to my current LR Discovery II. I covered 100's of miles of FSR's off road in that little Honda fishing and camping.
The best advice I can give you is:
No matter what you buy have a pre-purchase...
@Ebbs Just a bit more info the logging industry vehicles are really good about calling KM. If you hear a logging vehicle coming at you and see a safe pullout, pull over the big trucks appreciate it.
Other heavy trucks especially dump trucks almost never do, so stay to your side of the road...
@MOAK My 1st thought was firearms as that creates the most havoc at the border, but they tend to send people back to the US in that situation unless it was a bolt action or pump shotgun. But it is odd that Tommy has not responded to what caused the issue, but it could just be an internet issue
Glad to see things settle out, @MOAK keep an eye on the border situation there is some indication that the Canadian government may start adding travel restrictions for US travelers, to combat some of the stuff going on down there. So far just rumor and angry voices, based on a few incidents but...
They don't tend to tear a car apart for nothing or separate people, out of curiosity you mentioned having items seized care to elaborate. As to your dog that is for your dog's safety, caged and muzzled the dog is not a threat.
I do however suspect the current political tensions have a lot to...
@jackstar you see the issue there is online most of the back country of BC is firmly offline, and hoping AI get's it right is not something I am willing to risk.
