    Getting the right vehicle

Not at all, I remember going to Walmart, picking up my camping gear and heading north to Flagstaff. I had it all; a Colman Tent, Bag of Kingsford Charcoal for the fire, one of those Styrofoam Coolers, a camp light, flashlight, and a camp chair. Now a few years later I would end up adopting my...

    Getting the right vehicle

I started out with a Camry, and while I knew my limitations I enjoyed years of camping up in the mountains of Northern AZ to Idaho. I actually miss the old days of tossing the tent and camp chairs in the trunk and the cooler in the back seat. With the gas prices of today I was actually leaning...

Does anyone take mountain bikes on overland trips?

I went with Yakima's HangTight 4 for my Ram.

What do you guys do with your dogs?

With my pack; all over 90lbs I gave up on the RTT for the canvas ground tents. I might switch things up a bit with Oztent's RV5 this year which will tuck nicely between the Awning Walls of the 270 degree awning. During the winter I break out the Whiteduck Hot tents with the Stove here on the...

    Before you Buy Rooftop Tent

I went with Whiteduck Outdoors right off the bat for my pups, since I travel with oversized rug rats I didn't see the RTT as an option. I'm now thinking about changing it up a bit with the OZTENT RV5. I really like the quick setup compared to setting up the canvas tent.

    First mods to rig

What ever you do, I beg you... don't watch Dirt Every Day on MT with Fred and Dave. If you do, I have to warn you that the simple - Start with Tires will transform into something that I can't fully define but it goes something like - Hmmm. Those Maxxis Trepadors on TubeSock would look sweet on...

The best advice that I can give you is to take your time, as you will find a wealth of knowledge on this venue, and YouTube Channels like Overland Bound, EFRT, Autoedits, Expedition Overland to name a few. You will find that your 4Runner is more than capable as it comes off the dealers lot.
