WV trail suggestions

Hello,

I’m not looking so much specific trails, but areas to explore in WV. I live in VA about 1 1/2 hours from WV, entering WV on rt 33, and would like to start exploring/mapping out areas that I can hit as a day trip.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Flagpole knob area has some trails, been meaning to go check them out, if you have the time. The mid Atlantic backcountry descovery route was a good trip

Thanks! I’m very familiar with the Flagpole knob area, which is why I mentioned entering WV on rt 33.

We typically go up to Flagpole on the Union Springs side (more technical), and come back down past Skidmore Lake, which puts you on 33 just a few miles from the WV border. I’m curious about exploring the area beyond the border

Check out the north side of rt 33, the Second Mt area. Vepco Rd is a fun one, though not nearly as technical as Union Springs.
The nat forest interactive map is a good resource for planning explorations.
