A friend of mine inherited an old Willys and started fixing it up.

He put some disc brakes on and I think he got it with the modern wheels and tires.
Maybe if I ask real nice, we can take it on a trip.

Hope he keeps it mostly stock. They were bullet proof.
My first vehicle in Grade 12, 1972 was an M38.

Looks awesome! I just picked up a project my son and I hope to begin working on shortly. A 1946 Willys CJ2A. It’s going to need a lot of work, but hopefully we can make it a driver in the future.

Nice Jeep!

Here's a web site dedicated to Willys if you want to do some research on it.

Many thanks. It’s going to take some time, but as they say “ it was a deal you can’t refuse.” Put on the back burner for the moment as I wish to change vehicles and find something more comfortable and suitable for these awesome overland trips. My current platform is most capable but set up primarily for single use and not long distance, at speed highway driving.

It reminds me of the Korean war days. I could see Hawkeye or Radar driving it right now.

After our camping trip a leak was discovered. Here he replaced the seals on the transmission and transfer case:

Here is the back now with the spare tire location, a fuel tank as well as the high lift jack mount

He's also got it setup to flat tow behind a motor home so there is a tow bar hook up and wiring on the front now.

Still waiting for new tires...

I wanted a Willys so bad but couldn't find one local that I thought would be salvageable in a reasonable time. Wound up with a 76 CJ5. It's not a Willys but at least it's pre Chrysler days :P

This one looks amazing. I'm totally Jealous.
