I was told by a shop owner friend that the synthetics have smaller molecules than the dino oil. He told me it was very common for an older vehicle to start leaking after switching to synthetics (which I always do) when it has run conventional oil all it's life. It could be the smaller molecules get past worn parts of the engine easier than conventional did.
I am not an expert on oil, and I don't play one on TV, so that all could be bunk. But I do trust him.
