What's your dream overlanding trip? The one that you would take if time and money were no object?
I have one trip that I have wanted to do for several years. And now that I'm unemployed due to the virus and have nothing to do all day long except watch overlanding videos and read blogs, I've beenthinking dreaming about it more and more again.
My church has several temples scattered across the Americas, one in Willamette, outside of Chicago, one in Panama, one in Santiago, Chile, and a small one in Colombia. I want to visit each of them.
If I had the money I would take a group of friends and family and drive the entire route from the temple in Chicago all the way down to Santiago, Chile, while vising other church members along the way (and doing some sight seeing and cultural education).
I don't know if I will ever be able to make it happen.
Google says it's, over 8,350 miles, and I would definitely want to add a side trip through the Yucatan, Mexico and probably Bolivia as well. I'm sure it would take 3 or 4 months to complete, and cost at least $100,000 if we had 6 to 8 people and 2 or 3 vehicles. Not sure if I would try to drive all the way back, or ship the vehicles from Buenos Aires to Houston.
