Anyone in West Texas interested in a meet n greet? Many members between Amarillo and Midland/Odessa. Anyone want to throw some dates out there for a Meet & Greet? June is always hot but mornings can be nice.

My wife is the brewer at the Brewery LBK at the Pioneer Hotel in downtown Lubbock on Broadway and K St. Brunch at the brewery from 11-2:00 Sat and Sun. Excellent food from the West Table restaurant served in the brewery. The Brewery LBK was voted by USA Today as a Top 10 Best Brew pubs in the US.

Open to any Saturday or Sunday. Come join me and your first beer is one me. thebrewerylbk.com

Its looking like June 1st we will be a lot closer to normal in West Texas. Increasing to 50% capacity in a few days.

I need to find a campground first, but I'd like to get up the Panhandle. Been years since I was through there.

I'd like trying that Red Irish Ale.

I'm open to most weekends in April or May. I'll work on a list of trails and camping (both on and off grid) for anyone coming through.

Maybe -
March 28
April 4 or 5
April 18 or 19?

Ok March 28 I’m going to be at the West Texas Roundup at Cooks garage. April 5 I believe would work for me.

As all of us know, West Texas is not exactly a hotbed of overlanding and many of us are spread from El Paso to Borger. I reserve trips to NM and CO for true getaways. However locally, while it is a moderately formal campground, Buffalo Springs Lake is about a 20 min drive from downtown. It is also home to some nice OHV trails to explore. There are the requisite KOA, Elks, and private places scattered within 20 mins of LBK.

Within 2 hours are two unique places. Palo Duro Canyon where Jeep hosts one of its yearly gatherings is 2 hours north of Lubbock and about 25 mins SE of Amarillo. Beautiful scenery and terrific trail systems. Camping is mixed with formal and off-grid.

While my favorite camping is in Quitaque (kitty-quay) which in my opinion is even prettier than Palo Duro. It also has the original buffalo herd found hundreds of years ago in the Caprock area roaming throughout the park.

i grew up in san angelo and i sure don't remember there being much in west texas...we did go to palo duro a time or so and it was ok. surprisingly, there seems to be a good bit of stuff to see and do out around austin. hiking and kayaking and a few state parks. i left out of there in the 80s, so maybe some stuff has opened up since then...

Lubbock is now 318,000 people. Its an island in WT. 5 hours to anywhere bigger than Lubbock. We are closer to ALBQ than Dallas. Some pics from last fall in Caprock Canyon State Park:
I came in here expecting to say I was booking a flight for free beer... but then... I saw these awesome pictures. I traveled through Lubbock 2-3 times a year on my way from El Paso and Killeen to Colorado Springs. I wish I would have known about Caprock Canyon State Park back then. I still have family so where around Dallas and a very close and dear friend in San Antone that I need to visit sooner than later.

Governor closed it all down but... beer is available for pickup. Cans or growlers and cheaper than normal.
Hoping all is well and we can pick this back up once we have the All Clear from the powers that be.

Feeling glad I'm on the coast of Maine right now. . . even if I am old AF:

Now, if I could get some Shiner Bock or Shiner Black Lager...I know it's not high end beer, but the way I drink sometimes when I'm playing guitar or cards, they make for damned nice session beer.

June is wide open for me and the brewery. I have a parking lot across the street we can use. The patio is open and is on the corner.
