I am looking at purchasing this model for use at my home that is setup off-grid. With that in mind, that is the reason for the mobile 12 VDC , and the truckers model. I do get a signal but really hoping for a better one. Any thoughts with those that use this system? From my research, it looks like it is important to have a good “ground plain” to mount the weBoost external antenna. Keep the external antenna at least 15’ or greater distance from the internal antenna. One reason for the otr model is the extra masts that come in the complete kit for the external antenna. This will not be used in a true mobile situation. Again, mounted on my motor home or garage only. Any thoughts from those using this system would be appreciated. Vance.

I have the WeBoost OTR installed in my Tacoma. It works well when there is a little signal for it to work with. They aren't magic but I do have signal longer in areas where I didn't before.

I use the Inreach in my truck and discussed it here. Not sure if it's the same thing you are looking at.
RoarinRow,
thank you for you’re reply. This unit is a cell signal booster, used to give you a better cell reception when the signal is low. Look up the product and see what you think? See you out there. Vance.

RancheroDelux,
Thank you for your response. That is what I have been reading on the Internet. My cell signal is just okay, and my neighbor has even less of a cell signal. I found a good deal on eBay, and my neighbor bought the weBoost unit today. I hope to have one soon, when I have the extra money! Vance.

Yup it’s exactly what I have. It’s the newest version that just came out a couple of months ago. Works well.

RoarinRow,
guess I thought you were talking about the inreach Sat system for emergencies and texting, not cell service boosting. A message service when you don’t have cell service? Glad to hear the weBoost cell signal booster works as advertised, thank you! Vance.

Oh yeah similar names lol and I do have both. The Weboot Inreach for cell boosting and the Garmin Inreach Mini for sat.

The Weboost OTR model you're looking at has a nice longer antenna than the one that comes with the new Weboost Inreach and probably better for your needs.

Do you get any bars of signal on your phone at this location?

mep1811,
Yes, I use it now to write this to you! I do everything off of Verizon unlimited cell service. Sap thing is just 50’ away the service was great. Because of the wind at time I had an some excavation work done around my place and put my home, my motor home in behind the hill out of most of the wind. Maybe even a good extension on an external cell antenna would would and save me some money. I did give my research to one of my neighbors and he bought the weBoost unit I was looking at. He has even less cell service so will be a good test! Vance.

Do you mind sharing how you mounted the outside antenna? I purchased to mount on a Ram 2500, but my Diamondback bed cover is limiting my options...

I bought one. First unit failed in short order. Replacement promptly sent. I don't think it works worth a bleep. I have tried both the small mag mount ground plain and the RV style tube style. Neither has done a thing. I have tried it with Verizon and T-Mobile with a iPhone and Android phone. Signal is not boosted. Maybe they work better when you can get the antenna's further apart and higher but this may be a $500 paperweight. The only other thing I can try is to mount the antenna on my trailer and connect it to the box when camped.

I really appreciate all the responses so far. My friend did not get the OTR model and dose get some help with his WeBoost, but not like he was hoping. Not sure I want to gamble with that much money at this point. Maybe this will help others that read this discussion decide if the WeBoost is right for their application or not? Thanks all with your thoughts on this topic! Vance.

You have to have at least one bar of 3 or 4G
If that was a reply to my post I understand that. I have run diagnostic software on both phones and there is ZERO improvement in signal. Whether I have 1 bar, 2 bars, 3 bars... Even WeBoost says it isn't about the bars and is about signal strength. There is no way to improve the setup I have other than moving the antenna away from my vehicle. I have gone through all of that with WeBoost. Less than ideal and I don't even know if that would work.

Hello there. I have an off grid workshop (eventually our home will be completed and reside next to it) and I use the Weboost Connect, links below, and use a Weboost DC power supply converter since we use 12v right now as well, also link below. I wanted to mention this in case you didn't realize you can use the standard home or office Weboost products with the DC converter (they advertise it as just for their 'mobile' type setups, but it doesn't matter).

In my situation our little area is in a small depression where we get no service. If you go up a bit higher you can get maybe an intermittent bar or two. The Weboost Connect comes with a directional antenna (you could buy the Weboost Home omni antenna version if you wanted it for your RV) which is the key difference in really amplifying your service. It also comes with an inner antenna which is good for a normal home size, unlike the mobile inside antenna's. We went from no service, to LTE and able to watch any streaming service you want. In my case it's usually a Youtube video showing me how to do something while i'm out there working.

I found where the local cell towers were, put the antenna on a 30ft pole, and aimed it towards the best tower by using the number you dial (for newer iphones) to get into the right screen to truly see your signal strength. You could make a removable mast that could be taken on and off your garage and put on your RV and extended when you parked somewhere.

You can see the backside of my workshop and the antenna in the post below.

Pics mentioned in above post.
IAm_Not_lost,
Thank you for the information. I will look up the website and check out the products! I use 12 VDC power for most of my electrical needs, not wanting to rely on using a inverter all the time. I think the biggest hurdle is the antenna! A good directional antenna should do the trick! Vance.

I used a RAM motorcycle antenna mount a base and a short arm
and mounted it to my Prinsu Rack, got the idea from Mike at "Last Line of Defense" I'll post pictures later if you like.
