My favorite for the radar imaging is an old app (last updated 5 years ago!) called Dual Radar. Still works on iPhone Xr with current iOS, but I don't know if it's a zombie app yet or will be soon. I've also got My Radar, Storm Tracker, Storm Radar, and NOAA Radar Live. All work fine as far as I can tell. Dual Radar has a nice simple interface and sharp-edged precip graphics that seem very accurate.
I've used My Radar and it was good especially with the wind overlay. Tried one recently called Radar Omega and it was extremely detailed but I could not resolve the crashing issues.
I'll check out the others and see if they will work for us.
The problem I currently have with any of the apps is where we generally go to camp there is “NO” cellular connection. The Garmin InReach Mini does have the best weather, we have been surprised with rain and storms several times.
In terms of apps - wunderground, windy, flightradar24; websites - depends on where we are - firesmoke.ca is good in Canada for example.
Fundamental however is to look out of the window - when I was working offshore the Captain's judgement was uusually better than the weather service report we received daily.
