Hey All,

I have a Warn M15000 winch on my full size that I don't use very often (like most winches). Well, this weekend I was at an off-road event and I was helping someone get out of a tough spot and my winch would not free spool! It worked in the past but for some reason it won't. The lever moves freely and if anything there's no "detent" felt for free spool. Winch in/out works fine.

Has anyone else with a Warn M-series winch encountered this problem? Is this a "percussive maintenance" opportunity or do I need to open up the gearbox and see why it won't free spool? I mostly don't want to have to pick the thing up out of the bumper to rework it if I don't have to. Thanks for the help!

(the user manuals are less than helpful)

They usually say to spool it out a bit.
Did you try putting it in free spool then spool (power) out?

try in and out, if that doesn’t work try hooking it to something and spool in while in free spool.
