Hi all
Planing a trip to Utah 1st week of November. I plan on doing the 100 mile Canyonland Mile Rim Road Trail. (3 days).
Seeking any info on possible trail conditions this time of year and any information on campsites over crowding.

Also hitting Arches, Bryce and Zion any info on overlanding around or near these parks has well.
Tks

Hey Zeroviz, i just returned from doing the White Rim Trail, which I assume is what you’re referring to. Trail condition was great. We pushed through in one day, but did stop for photos, lunch, mussleman arch, and a flat tire on Murphy Hogback, took about 10 hrs. Next time I’ll camp and hit Lathrop canyon.

I used freecampsites.net website for free dispersed camping in Moab if you don’t already have. Doesn’t help on white rim though. Also camping on RTE 128 is awesome, right along Colorado river. Definitely go for a swim.

Jazzy13 Tks for the info.....my trip is in Nov. looking forward to it.

If anyone has done this in the late fall, please reply. Trying to find out if the trail gets snow this time of yr, avg. temp.

I can't comment on the trail that time of year, but I can comment on the Moab area in general that time of year. It won't be crowded (in comparison to the Summer), it'll be cold in the evenings (expect low 30s) and warm-ish (50-60s) in the day. Snow is possible, but I wouldn't expect feet; maybe an inch or three, if that. That being said, don't expect much of the town to be open that time of year (restaurants are mostly seasonal).

Honestly, my favorite time of the year to visit Southern Utah (Moab specifically) is October through March, because of the above reasons. It's quiet, peaceful, usually good enough weather, and the trails/parks shouldn't be too crowded.

Enjoy your trip!

No worries, and sorry didn’t see the Nov date, it was late. Good luck and enjoy!

If you plan on camping on the White Rim Trail itself, look into it now as there is a first come, first served campsite reservation process. I think I heard the release times are about 5 or 6 months ahead though much less of a problem that time of year. We went counter-clockwise & camped at the one near Taylor Cyn I think & Airport. Took it leisurely & did Lathrop Cyn. Wonderful trip. As an FYI, the direction you go will determine who is on the cliff vs the drop off side (switches on the switchback descents of course), pros & cons to each. My wife had to step out a couple times while I did a tricky part but I could also easily gauge getting as close to the cliff wall as possible.

I was only waiting till Nov so i don't have to deal with crowds, i could go mid Oct if you think thats better time. No worries about cold weather, i winter camp all the time up here in the northeast......been in temp below 20 deg., i have the right gear so its not a problem for me.

Personally, I would try & avoid snow. You’ll be occasionally driving on some fairly tight roads with up to a thousand foot drop off one side. Definitely not a place you want to slide.

No problem!

You'll have milder weather in October, but the possibility of a few more people. If you can time your trip around the typical Fall break times for schools, you'll be just fine in either month.
