This on top of your alternator? Or are you thinking of plugging in while your parked?

I don't know if I want the added expense of using an EV charger to fill up my trailer battery's.

I can imagine the looks you get from the EV people who will spend 20 mins filling their car when it could take you quite a while to charge your batteries from shore power.
AGM/LA batteries will pull 40 amp max, then pull less as they charge. It can take as much as 10 + hours to bring a single battery to 100%. Lithium's will be based on your cooling and BMS. The average RV lithium runs 15-25 amp BMS with a bunch at 10 amp. The better BMS have temp sensors and will slow the charge considerably if the battery gets warm. Again several hours to charge that way.
