We were rear ended today. Nothing major, but the rear bumper will need to be replaced.

Does anyone have experience in using the insurance claim to offset some of the cost to upgrade to a sturdier off-road bumper?

I’d do it myself and just cash the claim check if that was allowed, but with a lien on the vehicle I know that won’t be possible.

Just wondering if anyone has past experience they could share.

My experience with it is as long as it’s not totaled then you can cash out the claim and use the cash for whatever you desire.. putting it towards a new bumper is up to you

Certainly not totaled. Just a bent rear bumper

Visit your local 4x4r shop and see if they are able to do an appraisal and if so, order what you want through them. Your dealer might be willing to do the same and order something A/M?

I did this for wheels on a wrangler that I broke a wheel on when I hit a guard rail. I ended up having to pay for one instead of all 5
