Truck Topper/Cap Interior Ideas

I'm interested in seeing people's storage solutions for truck caps/toppers....I've been over the YouTube stuff again and again, so looking for what other's have done here.

If you can post a pic of your best ideas it would be much appreciated.

Guess it really depends on how you build out the inside of your topper. Some people have a deck system and slide out drawers, lots of custom set ups on Youtube. I have a folding bed in mine and store stuff underneath the bed. This way I can still sit up or kneel up in topper. What doesn’t fit inside of topper I store in roof cargo box and roof basket.

I also use my Wilco tire hitch carrier that holds my extra fuel and shovel.

I have the DECKED system and a custom mattress I made with 90D ripstop and 4" memory foam. The cargo net holds beach towels, a hygiene kit, extra clothes, and blankets.

Currently looking at some other convenience item storage ideas, window covers. I have 12v in the back already near the tailgate.

Been looking to do a roof rack and that would provide some interior bolts that I could do celing-mounts, but no concept yet.

Thanks, good luck on your research. I watched hours of YouTube videos for my setup, as well as hours here getting ideas.

that is a great set up....i got my inspiration for my camper shell build out from @RoarinRow. i really like keeping things modular and easy to take out or put in. ypu mentioned a roof rack...i went with a yakima roof rack and a large cargo basket to keep extra totes and a place for a small LP bottle since i dont want it stored inside the closed off shell. the mounting hardware is 5/16", so there are 5/16" bolt threads sticking down inside the cap and in addition to using rings, i also went with 5/16" couple nuts that i threaded up on the bolts and then took a nice piece of oak board (1"x2") and drilled and bolted it to the coupler nut and now i have a nice wooden rail fastened to the inside of the cap to mount things to without having to try to fasten to the cap itself. versatility is my main goal when doing something...

i have a short tank for the truck, 5 or 7#. there is already a ring on the bottom of the tank with holes in it...i just got a piece of flat bar and drilled two holes in it and put the bar under the bottom of the rack and then ran two threaded hooks from the tank to the bar and i tighten the hooks up and suck the tank down tight to the rack. real easy and cost about $3. i dont have the flat bar bolted in the picture, but you get how it goes.

i built the two sliding drawer boxes to fit between the wheel wells, so there is the space in front and behind of the wheel wells, so I made a box 14X8 to go in front that holds a 35ah battery with plugs to charge phone, run a 12v fan, lights, etc and the space behind the wheel well is a perfect fit for a plastic 5gal water can that i stuck a submersible pump in and have water flow for our portable shower that runs off LP that i have mounted up in the cargo basket. This set up was inexpensive and very versatile as I can remove the mattress and have a platform for hauling other stuff as well as the long pull out drawers that I use for tools and other items when I'm not using the truck to camp. I can easily remove the two boxes in minutes and have a regular truck bed if needs be.
