I can't argue either way but I'm from a very, very similar area to you (an hour or two south) and my question to you would be where do you want to go?

A lot of trails in the northwest are too narrow for full sized trucks. Due to trees being too close together, tight corners were length becomes an issue, or restrictions put on by land management. A jeep would be better suited for the trails.

If you want to stick with logging/FS roads the truck will do just fine.
well I am moving to Nevada in abouta week so itll be more of desert runs\dirt roads to explore so size really isnt an issue

Unfortunately Rams have ball joint issues. They have for years. I sold my 3500 diesel for the tacoma I have now. I loved that ram and wish I still had it some days.

Buy some high dollar ball joints and keep an eye on them. Keep the truck, carry tools lol.

If size is not a big issue keep the truck. I'm not knocking Jeeps but it looks like that thing has a Hemi in it so if you do the Jeep thing you will be underwhelmed on the power side, IMHO. I have had the full size pickups and several Jeeps and each has their merits. You could spend several hours going through pros and cons of each vehicle and end the end you will find there isn't a perfect vehicle as you will always compromise somewhere. Take my Dodge Ramcharger for example, it is the ultimate compromise. I wanted a Land Rover 110 but I'm poor so I compromised:tearsofjoy:.

I'm biased towards Jeep as I have owned 3 and though they have their problems I have absolutely loved all of them and miss the one I don't have anymore. Going from a truck with massive amounts of room to a Jeep with very little room is not as easy as one might think. On the other hand there is nothing quite like taking the top and doors of and watching as jealous people stare at you as you drive by! On the other other hand the best vehicle is the one that is paid for!

I'm looking for opinions to help me decide if I want to keep my truck or sell and buy a Jeep. Right now I have an 08 Ram 1500 with 90k miles on the clock that has almost been paid off I have redone the suspension, put 35s on and put skid plates on. The truck is in great shape and I have already done a lot to it. If I kept it, my future plans would include a bed rack with a RTT, a front end hitch with a winch mount and some custom sliders. However, I'm not sure I trust the IFS after having both my UCA ball joints getting blown out twice. I am like 95% sure I fixed the problem but I am still really apprehensive and would love the solid front axle the Jeep provides.

So do you think I would be worth me selling the truck I have now with all the mods and buy a Jeep JK with a lot less miles and basically start all over again with an overland build? Pros/cons would be greatly appreciated!
Don't keep a rig because of the work you put into it. It's about the journey my friend. Definitely don't hold on to a vehicle if it doesn't meet your needs. I suspect you know what you'd really prefer. Whatever that is, you made a good decision. Let us know what you decide. Cheers.
