Howdy

This is my first post on here and I tried searching with no luck. Those of y’all that have a spare tire trash bag, what ones are y’all using and recommend?

Blueridge Overland Gear Back. Better than Trasheroo. Better material and won't fall apart in the sun. My opinion and I have owned both. Buy once cry once.

Picked this off Amazon only had it a week or so. It looks well made but no hole in the bottom for drainage.
I like the idea and Amazon photos showing the 'Traxacx' able to be attached separate from a spare tire. This was the method I would use on my pickup truck tailgate. For the 'Trasheroo' it seemed that this attachment method was more complicated...ie...prone to slip. Having it only a week, it's to soon for a durability review, but something I will keep a eye on.

held on with 3 quick release buckles. Straps were plenty long easily will go around a very large tire.

Trash-a-roo
Do you put plastic garbage bags inside to keep them somewhat clean ? They dont look like they hold very much. I'm thinking a plastic container would be better in my case. Strap it to the roof rack when traveling, on the ground when in camp ??? Washable at the car wash.
Where do you guys dump your trash when the bag is full and your on the road ?

Trasharoo
Dave Druck is a socal guy who invented the things. I have one of his first batch, and still use it.
Highly recommend Trasharoo, and Dave is one of us. Offroad dude that travels with his wife all over the US.

yes, plastic garbage bags inside. There are drain holes on the Trasharoo, a necessity in case...
They are large bags. More than enough to hold a weeks worth of garbage and more and whatever else you want to store in there.

Easy access on the rear tire. I don't want to be handling all my waste, wag bags and all, from the roof to the ground every time I need to throw stuff away.
The bag is washable.

I get contractor garbage bags from the hardware store (Walmart’s are ok but not as heavy duty), and stick them inside the “Trash-A-Roo”, or just tie a knot in the bag and strap it to my roof rack if I have several.
As for dumping trash, it depends on; where I am compared to home, how much trash I have, and how much more road time I have. My preferred dumping place is at my local waste management, because they give a discount for the weight when you are returning from the woods (and even take it for free if you bring a Forest Service Volunteer Form with you). Second best place is the dumpster in front of my house... out on the roads, I look for dumpster that are easy to access at the truck stops and local gas stations... Some larger parks have trash facilities as do most restaurants stops... so lots of places to dump your garbage while out.

Thanks for the info. I wasn't suggesting having a plastic container on the roof while in camp. It would be on the ground when camping and on the roof when travel. I realize the plastic container would not be for everyone. It only works for those who have a roof rack like mine.

of course trash collection and storage will also depend on the environment that you would be in. I wouldn't consider storing trash near a campsite in a bear environment.

I see dumpsters all around the shopping center here but they all have signs that say no dumping. I was just curious since I have always brought it home from all my short outings in past years. I have to keep reminding myself that I'm not camping with a pickup truck any more with my garbage in a yard bag in the back of the truck

I have had two trash-a-roos and now have a Blue Ridge bag. Both trash-a-roos worked great, bigger than you might think and though a pain in the ass to put on, once on, they dont go anywhere. Both faded really quickly. Going from black to medium gray after about 20 days use. I use a hefty bag inside. I usually use it to haul firewood in and then trash back out.

Have not used the Blue Ridge bag yet. Next month. It is smaller but made with substantially more stout materials and stitching.

That’s why I said at the truck stop... and rest areas
