I had my first experience with trail riding in the snow! I live in Northern California and frequent Tahoe all the time! But this is my first experience with actually snow wheeling. It is a lot different experience than just the average summer day or even muddy trails. If you ever get the chance go out and explore in the snow. Make sure you are prepared with either having someone go along with you or recovery gear because it can get sticky! And all emergency gear if you get stranded. Have fun out there and outfit and explore!

I love the snow also and you said "sticky" I would say slippery as S--T and nerve racking to say the least.
Years ago I did the silver lake trail off 80 up on donner pass, like Jan 1989 in a 87 toy with 35's and the torsion bars cranked up.
I have some old prints of the trip floating around, what a great time.... Enjoy

Haha well sticky like sticky situations. But yes slippery for sure! But such a fun time. And that sounds like it would be a great time!

We had some experience with the snow when we went to Colorado back in the early summer. We had just gone up the wall at Poughkeepsie and was headed for Hurricane Pass when we were faced with stretch of 8 - 12" snow for about 200 yards going up a steep section of trail with double switchbacks. We thought long and hard about turning around, but going down the Poughkeepsie wall didn't sound very fun (or safe).
So we unloaded the passengers, shoveled some patches of gravel onto the snow at the switchbacks, and put the hammer down. Thankfully the ruts did all the steering and after a couple attempts (and nearly rolling one of the convoy jeeps), everyone made it up. We collected a fair amount of spectators during this process and got some cheers and thumbs ups as we came up the pass. Still, not something I'd like to repeat!

I do some field driving in the snow, my Grandpa owns the land (Completely against driving through other peoples land, BTW) and he doesn't care if i off road in it as long as there is no crops present, it is fun in the snow.. I am thinking this year I would like to go to the Badlands Offroad Park here in Attica, IN when there is snow. I think it would be a blast.
