Anyone want to join? The guy hosting this is very knowledgable and takes the off shoots for some fun exploration instead of the traditional road. The drive across the desert starts on Friday morning April 19th. I'll be heading down to Fort Mohave, AZ on the 18th and spending the night at the casino where we'll be meeting up with the people going. Last year I drove all night and ran day 1 of the trip on no sleep. I didn't get to enjoy the camp fire stories because of this.

April 18th - drive from Modesto, CA to Fort Mohave, AZ
April 19th - get together with the other people running at the Avi Casino
April 21st - run the last leg of the trip and drive home that night OR spend one more night in the desert and go home in the morning.

Here's a few pictures from last year.

lol your only real threat is Tehachapi. Beides, no man left behind. You do 50, I do 50. Whatever truck is easier on your back is the one you want.

I just did the sedona trip after xmas and got blown all over the place in the hills with the jk and a trailer. I'm trying to bring the fj80 as it has brand new suspension but I still got some things to work out on it...brakes lines extensions, diff lines, funny smell on interior and got to lengthen the panhards as I am crab walking right now. Oh ya need to finally hook up the ham and get off those handheld radios. Damn it I need to get busy. Either way we can meet up in Mantweeka if your heading from Modesto

I had a funny smell in my FJ and realized one of my passengers decided to leave an Arby's gyro in my seat back pocket. Its been months since but theres still a small trace of that smell in it.

Turns out the fj likes to smoke a whole lot without oil in it. Been in the shop since turf and surf and I ran the piss out of it ..hence no oil much better now. Did find a half jack and the box taco and some fries from the trip back from pismo. Time to get her ready to go back to Mojave

Tried Sedona with a trailer I built and ih realized I dont like towing when I supposed to wheeling. ALSO I realized dropping a trailer in the middle of nowhere gave me anxiety on if it was going to be there when i got back

I know what you mean. Its just like leaving your heavily equipped 4x4 unattended. This is why I've decided i don't want to spend the night in the hotel so im going to camp out by the river lol.

Updated info from the guy leading this trip:

my034runner said:
Those of us from Las Vegas will meet here at Findlay Toyota around 8:30 am, those from Kal will meet us at the Smiths Food King in Fort Mohave, AZ. That is where we can refuel and save $$$ doing it. If you are bringing extra fuel tanks (Minimum of 10 extra gallons recommended, more is better), wait until getting there to fill them, thus saving you $$$ and extra weight for your drive down.

Also, don't forget to bring WATER, WATER, WATER, WATER, WATER..........................and just in case, WATER!!

And of course, food, camping stuff, etc............

Friday Fort Mohave to Caruthers Canyon........with other points in between.

Saturday, Caruthers Canyon, to the Far side of the Mojave National Preserve to the Foshay Pass.........taking you up to unbelievable views on both sides of the Providence Mountains!!!!! From there, drive past Kelso Dunes (I'll tell you more about them later)..........and to the Kelso Depot, which is now the main visitors center for the National Park Service!! Therre, if we can get there early enough, take a tour of the Historical Depot, if the Café is still open, maybe get some ice cream or something..........Plus, last chance to use a bathroom with Running Water!!!!!!!! Then to Beale Mountain for Saturday night camp/party site.

Easter Sunday..........Pack up after a good Easter Sunday Breakfast, then on to the Mojave Mail Box, Aiken Cinder Mine and then the Lave Tubes!! Then, onto towards Afton Canyon!!!!! All of this, with cool stops and info over the radio's.

Everyone needs COMMS, Ham, cb, Their own personal toilet system, we WILL Pack out our own ****!! If you don't have some type of system, get one, or make one, it's as simple as a 5 gal bucket, trash bags and waste gel powder that you can get at Wal-Mart or any sporting goods store..........

I'll add more later.

Lol either way, you're still solid front axle so you wont be able to take advantage of blasting through the trails at a bazillion mph rally style without jittering off the trail. The leader and me will be waiting for you and the other guys with sandwiches at every junction. We can discuss V8 swapping that tired old 1FZ around the camp fire. Bring whatever you feel comfortable with. I wheel with Jeeps all the time so expect no heckling from me.

Well I'm glad you are getting your straight axle heckling out of your system now rather than later.

I'm converting my 4Runner to a straight axle to shine in the straight axle stuff. I removed my sway bars off my FJ so you'll watch my hamster ball lean hard in curves.
