Anyone know how to get a 70 series Troopy pop top in the US? I have always loved them, and would like a left hand drive, diesel, with manual transmission. Also, what are they running these days?

You cannot get a new one here. :cry: You'll have to move to Australia to get a new one ............ but you cannot import a new one either. The 70 series does not meet USA emission/safety standards.

The only way to get one, is to buy an old one. I think it has to be either 20 or 25 years old and then have it imported in.

If I could have ONE 4X4 on this planet to keep and use, it would be a Troopy!

Okay, I've seen people in the US driving them, but I do not know the year. I have always loved them. Either one of these, or a Mercedes Entdecker with a manual transmission and diesel.

Also, I would take that truck in a heartbeat. The tan is amazing. However, I do not mind the green one either.

There are a lot of troop’s in the USA. Ok4wd sells and installs the Alu-Cab pop top as do others. Ih8mud is your friend.
Yes, but they are all vintage Troop Carriers, NOT new ones. And good ones cost a fortune. That particular one sold for a much lower price than is typical.

OP didn’t qualify old or new, he ask about buying a troopy in the US.

I understand that we here in the Great USA are a LHD country, but it is not that hard to get used to a RHD. Once you get one and get used to it, it becomes a cool thing and a conversation starter. Biggest thing to change would be the headlights so that you do not blind oncoming drivers.
If I had an extra $35K sitting around I would snag that thing. Too bad I am broke.

Plus it is automatic so one less thing to worry about. $35,000 is pricey but basically you have turn key vehicle but like you I am broke.

That is a 4 door wagon, a Troop Carrier is a 2 door. It would all depend on how you want to build out the interior. RHD is not an issue for anyone that knows these vehicles.

oldmopars, headlights are adjustable with a screwdriver.

Yes, they are, but they are also country specific. The glass lenses are designed for RHD or LHD. So the way the light is aimed by the lens causes the light to go in specific directions that can not be fixed with a screwdriver. However on an older vehicle it is a really easy fix, just replace the headlights. They really need to be DOT anyway to be legal and most states that inspect the vehicle will notice.

I meant no harm either, just pointing out that there is a difference in the physical headlights depending on the use.
And you are right, Troopies are 2 Doors and that one posted is a 4 Door making it a wagon.

Passing, on a two-lane road, while driving solo, is not fun in a RHD in a LHD country. Hard to see oncoming traffic without pulling far into the oncoming lane.
