Backstory

I'm creating an unofficial Toyota Trail List - and I want your help!

If you're not familiar, Chrysler/Jeep publishes an official list of trails called the Jeep Badge of Honor Trails, and sends Jeep owners a unique badge for each trail they complete from the list. Unfortunately for us Toyota owners, no such program exists for us (Jeep won't even send you the badge if you don't have a Jeep!). I started this discussion over on Reddit in r/4Runner, and folks brought up the point that this should involve all Toyota Off-Roader's so here I am reaching out to you guys as well!

This should be a lot of fun, can't wait to pass some of you folks on the road and see one of these badges on your back window!

Expectations

I will be leading this drive towards the creation of this list (hopefully with all your help!) and will be posting a series of threads and community polls for each aspect. Along the way we'll come up with a set of guidelines for what kinds of trails should be on the list, we'll field everyone's suggestions for trails that should make the list, develop graphics for each trail badge, and ultimately figure out the best place/way to post and maintain the list for general consumption by the Toyota Off-Road community.

To Do List

  1. Name the Toyota Trail List - Let's start here - please respond to this thread with your thoughts on a name for this trail list. Let's come up with something original and a little more compelling than "Toyota Trail List". Maybe start with something we all love about our Toyotas? Any and all suggestions welcome!
  2. Develop Trail Criteria
  3. Field Trail Submissions
  4. Vote on Trails
  5. Develop Badge Graphics
  6. Publish Official List
Thanks for all your participation everyone, will be cool to be a part of creating this list for posterity. If you have any thoughts to share on this please feel free to post those as well along with your suggestion for a list name

What are your thoughts on "Toyota Trail Tag"?

I love this idea. I have a Jeep with a few and my buddy’s want some for their yota’s. As a whole I can’t believe any company that has “off road” vehicles doesn’t have this marketing program.

Those Jeep trails are all in the US, which could be why no one else bothers, outside of Jeep almost every other 4-wheel drive brand has more presence outside North America. As well here in Canada, at least BC and Alberta there are no "Marked Trails" It all just Forest service roads and roads off forest service roads so a similar program would not work.

Having said all that it is possible such a thing could be done, but I would start by reaching out to Toyota Marketing to see if they have any interest at all

They don't. At least several years ago when I inquired. If they still made the 40 series, that might be diffrent.
There are still a lot of FJ40s around I still have my 1978 that I bought in Cheyenne the summer of 78. I am rebuilding it now and have repowered it with a Cummins R2.8, H55F 5 speed and split transfer case. Full floating FJ60 rear axle and big brake kit on the front with the same width track as the rear.

Thats not what I meant.
Yes their are "old" ones. The reason for the Jeep badge of honor is to promote their vehicles. Toyota doesn't look at it that way.
"IF" they still made a dual solid axle, small vehicle like the 40 series, in America, they may have done something like this.
