Hi! I have a stock Jeep Rubicon and I just picked up a Smittybilt Scout overland trailer. The trailer receiver (unloaded) sits about 6" higher than the Jeep.
From asking around on forums and talking to different people, it sounds like you don't want to use an extension on the Jeep side because it adds stress to the Jeep's receiver. The route I think I'm going to go is get a lock n roll straight square tube receiver on the Jeep side. There's no raise, lower, or extension on it. On the trailer side, get a 4" drop receiver and then use a straight lock n roll to the Jeep.
Any thoughts on this setup? Why does an extension on the Jeep side add stress but not on the trailer side?
Thanks!
