It was brought to my attention (jeep owner) that he regularly breaks valve stems. My first thought was WTF? then after some thought realized its possible. How do you deal with a broken valve stem short of having bead locks, endless spares, is there a way to repair or replace on trail?

My AEV salta wheels have stem protectors (see top right), but that's an expensive fix.. also the best fix. Short of that, carrying a removal tool and extras is safe bet. Also re seating a bead with fire is a good thing to know.

I have 2 sets of 4 Colby valves. I have the permanent ones instead of the emergency version. They are great because they install without tools and without breaking the tire off the wheel. I bought a set for my car hauler trailer too so that that I have decent replace me ts that rodents can't chew through.

They aren't cheap but it's good insurance to have.

I bought two Colby emergency valves. I find it hard to believe I would blow all four on a trip. If I do...well...I guess that's like having 5 flats on my last road bike ride in Mammoth last year. People stepped up and helped with tubes. I'm sure people would help as it seems like a great community. I would definitely help someone on the trail. Karma

Never heard of these Colby Valves. Very cool product. Just wondering why you would use the emergency version when the permanent replacement is about half the price? Is it because you need an intact valve stem in order to use the permanent version?

EDIT: I just saw that the emergency version is a 2 pack.

That is such a cool feature to have on an offroad specific wheel.
