Never had a bivy. Started out with just a sleeping bag on a tarp, worked great for years. Had a 2 man tent for a while, now it's RTT. personally I would get a one man tent over a bivy, serves as a changing room and there's space for Copper

Ah, I didn't realize the width restriction. That sounds like a great idea! No more roots or rocks under your back. And a lot cheaper than even the most basic adventure trailer. New ideas suddenly pop into my head... :)

They aren't canvas, but a lot of my buddies use the snug pack bivy lots in the field with no complaints, or they have a 1 pers tent as well.

If you are considering such a small tent I'd suggest with starting with something cheap like the eureka solitaire 1, its inexpensive and with the fly top off the roof unzips allowing you to stand up and even pee if needed without ever getting out of the tent. Personally a lightweight 2 person tent is my preference.

Lol thats only in the uk were we have nothing that can kill you , no bears, snakes ,moutain lions , dingos , spiders etc the worst thing that can happen is the weather lol
I keep going back to the Swag. At most I need two guyouts, and they are only front and back. This is an easy setup in truck or trailer. The other offerings so far require a lot more guyouts (bad) need to be pegged at the base (worse) and are too wide (worst)
I think its a generic Chinese brand. I got the image off google images. I do like the idea of a cot tent. I think this one is interesting by Ventura Camp Systems.
Yeah, that is what my buddy said.. "what is going to keep you from getting flipped over at night". I would be so irritated.

I know, I'm just shooting everyone's ideas to pieces, but the issue with those is you are restricted to only the truck bed. I'm often the mule of the group, carrying firewood, spare tires, fuel, etc. for others. Yep, I knew it didn't meet your trailer or ground needs. I just thought maybe it would give you some ideas to expand on.
I actually am rethinking my setup for this exact reason. I would like to keep everything in the truck bed and use a ground tent instead of unloading everything to set it up.
I'm not sure if this helps or not, but I just picked up an ARB Skydome swag. I'm going to put it to the test next weekend and will aim to post a review.

I just pulled the trigger on the Outback Swag today.
I like that ARB has a centerline pole.

lol you just looked up the price??? I assumed I was getting a bad deal because everything costs more where I live, but I'm start to realise its just plain expensive everywhere!
