Can you spot the upgrade Texarado got today? I went with Rubicon Express Quick Disconnects. 4 Wheel Parts said they are just as good as JKS Quicker Disconnects. Anybody have a hot opinion or, better, advice on using manual disconnects? I am still fairly new to all of this and have yet to push myself off anything more than a grated dirt road.

Just find as level a spot to park as you can to take them off, or reinstall, as that will save you some time and effort.
This and carry a dead blow hammer with you as it'll take a love tap or two to get them on and off if everything isn't perfectly level. Another tip is to find a place to either "Park" the sway bar with both disconnects removed (Velcro strap works well for this to tie it up). Or if there is room, stick a bolt somewhere so that you can disconnect the axle side, swing the end link up into a storage position, and hold everything in place that way.

I've been using disconnects for a long time. As the others stated, the issue with reconnecting them (and some times disconnecting them) is not being on flat ground. Having someone sit on the corner of the bumper or lifting it helps. As for what brands, I've broken several different types and ended up making my own designed like what you have.
Like what Kage said make sure you tie up the bar and link so your tires don't contact it driving.
