Summer camping spots Southern CA

Hey everyone,
I live in Murrieta, and I am looking for cooler spots to camp with the family this summer. If anyone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated.

Going up Big Bear for the weekend is usually where folks from the LA area go to cool down for a little bit during the Summer.

There's a few areas up near Idyllwild, but I don't have personal experience, it's on my list to check them out some day.

Thomas mountain has some nice yellow post sites. Higher in elevation so it should be a little cooler.

There are also some good yellow post sites on Black Mountain Road in the San Jacinto Mountains. That road also has some amazing views .
