Suburban build - So. California

New to the forum. I'm about 3 weeks into a conversion of my 2003 Suburban 4x4. I originally had the idea to build this rig for a Baja California road trip. But I am excited to use this rig for a jump off point for backpacking trips and secluded off grid camping. I already had the suburban, that we hadn't really been using.
It will have the following

Solar setup
120w solar panel
DC to dc charger to recharge while driving.
200ah AGM battery
1200 pure sine inverter.

Kitchen setup
Coleman stove
Microwave/ for plug in camping spots
And for use in inclement weather.

Outdoor solar shower
Full size bed inside (memory foam)
Cartridge toilet for wife.
8' awning
12v fridge
Led lighting inside and out

Looks like a great start to a good build. Not sure what you have in mind in the back but, if you are going to do a platform check out using steel grated shelving it is lighter than wood, strong and very fast to install or take out. I like how you stripped it out all you need is two seats right... Mine is the same way but, with my platform I can reinstall them in fifteen minutes if I need to.

I love it, looks like you have a great truck there. I love Suburbans and think they make a great platform for a great rig.

I have a Tahoe and would like the extra length of the burb. I would like a z71 model. I have seen a few around.

Here are some progress pics. Got the back windows covered and insulated. Put another gland in the roof and ran wires for lights under the side canopy. Installed a roof basket that will hold the solar panel and any future accessories. Got the sub floor in and extended the rear hvac controls to the back of the vehicle ( was located in center console). Those controls, combined with remote start will allow us to turn on the ac or heater in bed for some climate relief if needed. Working on the inside storage shelves now, and the wood working is slow and meticulous.
Trying to get as much done during this quarantine. Luckily Lowes is still open.

Roof rack was only like $80 on Amazon. I rtv all the open holes and repainted to reduce any future rust.

That is sweet I’m getting ready to build the back of my 2001 rear draws fold down tables on barn doors 20 gal water tank water heater and shower. I started my build with 2” lift wheel and tires. looking forward to seeing where your build goes

No , not going to cover rear glass permanently, will have a temporary privacy cover when needed.

Yes those are insulated and completely blocked out.

I’m a brand new member beginning a build on my 2004 GMC Yukon XL. Trail ready bumper, Warn winch and PIAA fog and spot lights all getting installed next week. The lift, wheels tires come next after I see how much room if any the new bumper buys me. Just painted the hood and grill with vinyl coating to give it a more rugged look. Hopefully it’ll tie in well with the new bumper. Glad to see there are some other full size truck guys!
