Why choose!!! Do more trips with both scenarios! LOL. Both provide their own uniqueness. There's nothing like seeing the snow under full moon, but we don't get that experience often (have to travel to it). We live in Southern Cal and have year round camping. There's nothing like the desert with a full moon...seeing the mountain backdrops silhouette. However...the flip side is, with no trees to obstruct views under a moonless night...oh man!! Being on the Mojave Trail or in Anza Borrego with little to no light pollution...you almost feel like you are up there with the stars. Best viewing is wintertime when the heat doesn't distort the views. Our local desert visitor center will bust out there big telescopes for people to look through...incredible sights! The Subaru logo is a real thing up there! LOL.

Wife was an Operating Room Team Leader for years and things always got crazy on a full moon. I'll go with stars. We were on the 10 PM Ocracoke to Hatteras ferry a few weeks back with a full moon and the Milky Way was clearly visible. I can't remember how many years its been since I've seen it that well here in northeastern NC.
