I purchased new Goodyear duratracs for my trip to Big Bend. We traveled a lot of backcountry roads and I was glad I bought them before going. Other off road tires would have done well too I'm just glad I didn't use the factory tires.

New tires! Yup I looked at them all. I want to save my winter tires for winter so will be picking up a set of AT on/off road rubber. In looking at the reviews I decided to go with a set of Motomaster (Canadian Tire brand) AT3 tires. They look very similar to another popular off road brand name and offer great warranty, speed and load rating. At a much better price. I had a set of these on my 2013 Tacoma and put 50,000 plus kilometers on then on and off road, poured the power to them at corners and intersections and noticed little for wear. Great mud cleaning traits and traction, winter rated, and low road noise. The overall rating systems used for comparing tires indicates these are as high or higher rated than most other popular tires like the KO2, Wrangler, Discoverer and the like. May be something you all may want to look at.

Those appear to be Mastercraft AXTs rebranded for CT. Mastercraft is made by Cooper as well. My Dad has a pair of the AXTs on the back of his farm Jeep and really likes them.

I think the Mastercraft tires have slightly more tread void than the Cooper AT3 but I've never made an attempt to measure that. Haha. I considered them as well but the Coopers have been good to me so that's the direction I went.

I can tell they are quite a bit heavier than the P rated 265's and I think I might focus on finding a set of 3.69 geared axles for it. It's just a quiet inside as it was so I think for the time being, I made the right choice. While it was up, I gave it a quick once over and I'm gonna need new brake pads on the front pretty soon. Guess I'll be putting in an order with Rock Auto here after while.
