It is interesting. Our conversation a couple of months ago about the InReach is why I forwarded this to you. I am going to give it some serious consideration.

A quick read doesn't show any bluetooth/interface abilities. Linking with a tablet for my aging eyes is a must.
Interesting! probably a question we need to ask.

Competition is always good. A companion app on a phone or tablet will be needed to really compete with inReach however. Being able to use the phone/tablet to not only text but also to leverage their larger screen for map/nav purposes is a huge plus to the inReach. The Spot X pricing is much better however. If they add (or already have) the companion app, I might switch from inReach to their Adventurer plan. Although, the online tracking map that inReach offers is also a nice feature as well.

Garmin just released a very small pocket device as well. Around $350. Glad there is new competition and innovation.

Wherever you go, there you are. Sent from my phone.

Just ordered a Spot X a few days ago. Final thing that sold me is the SOV (save our vehicle) coverage that's available (and cheap). A couple of years ago I had a breakdown in a spot even my ham rig couldn't get out of. LONG day... When it shows up I'll give it a workout and post a review.

Just checked and my order has changed from "Backorder" to "Processing". Hope that means that I'll see the gadget soon.
