i was expecting something weird and hillbilly....that was actually pretty interesting.
i was also impressed that everyone in that segment had all their teeth....:grinning:
Was it worth the time or false advertising?

it was good. i'm not into cars, but that was pretty interesting.

damn...i edited my post and its gone.
Well good, you don't reallhave to be "in to cars" to appreciate the value in that story, but that car the way it is optioned is extraordinarily rare if not one of a kind, and the fact that they have decided to leave it unrestored to honor both his father as well as the integrity of the machine is meaningful on more than one level.

If you like fantastic cars and better stories, watch this video.

Not responsible if it gets dusty in there

Awesome story and vid! The late 60's were the time of legend around the country and the Motor City certainly had more than it's share. Very cool to see this story. We used to run up there from southern Ohio and mess around.

Not quite the rarity this '70 Dodge Challenger Black Ghost is, though it reminded me immediately of the ground-breaking chase scene in the '68 movie Bullitt; between Steve McQueen in his '68 Mustang GT fastback and stunt driver Bill Hickman in a black '68 Dodge Charger.

Also reminded me of when I was 18 in a '69 Dodge Charger, racing a buddy in a '71 Dodge Charger up I-75 in Tennessee at 110 mph. Muscle cars, man, they were something else.

To add to a cool car thread, if you don't mind and for those interested, here's the Bullitt chase scene. They came up with some cool new filming techniques to do these shots. I remember seeing it in the theater when it came out in '68. The entire audience would lean left, then hard right, and shrink back and lean forward in unison during this chase. Was one of the most awesome things ever to see on a big screen:

Thanks for posting this - brought back a ton of memories. I was drafted in 69 and was fortunate enough to spend most of my tour in southern AZ with several other car guys. I had a 327, 4 spd, 3.55 posi, 68 Camaro w/ Edelbrock, Holley, Hooker, Lakewood, Mallory, etc. mods. Also in our group was a 70 SS 396 Chevelle, a Boss 302 Mustang, a 429 Mustang, and a 340 six pack Challenger (unfortunately no hemi's). We had a ball wrenching on the cars together and drag racing for beer. A few of us still get together occasionally and cars are one of the first topics to come.

I spent lots of years working on ,racing and breaking cars. I think that is part of why I enjoy working on vehicles so much today. I can relate to that part of the story and the rest of it is just pretty darned fulfilling, glad you enjoyed.

That's quite a group of cool cars to be running together!
