The problem with having the spare under the bed in stock location is #1 offroad clearance #2 is getting it out from under ther if your stuck in mud and have a flat. I keep mine straped down at ther rear of the bed. The hitch mount thing on rear would work as others have said you may need to strap it or wedge something in reciever gap to keep it from rattling. You could also put a hitch on the front and run the tire in the front.
Under truck spare is a heart attack, roof rack spare is a heart attack, rear swing out is angina. Plus the swing out can carry gas and hi-lift. I wasn't real sure I was going to like the swing out but after a year I think it's one of the best investments I've made.
