what's up guys I'm new here and new to the overlanding community in general. i have an 05 suburban that I'm currently outfitting for adventure if y'all could throw me any tips and advice that would be great. also I'm from Houston Texas so I don't know of any gatherings that happen around my location do y'all have any good spots you recommend for beginners?
Our pal Henry @TxasYukonXL is in Katy and may know of some Houston area stuff.

Good to see another burb here.
Had an 01 Yukon XL may she rest in peace...would say for starters don't go crazy on lift 6.5" BDS was prob too much... loved the platform but all Ram these days

If you are 4wd the g80 will be just fine for most things...
Are you trying to kit out to sleep in need it to get you to and fro the camp spots

Was limited availability on after-market but with the burb you don't need much

Closer to Cypress than Katy but take the Kayak the woodlands lake and head up to Sam Houston NF for shake down campouts still itching to try out Galveston state park...hadn't bumped into too many folks actually in Houston nice to meet ya
Yea I’m about to do a 6inch RC and set it up for camping pretty much that’s about it. I was going to get a 4x4 Silverado 2500 of the same year as my suburban and set it up for the more extreme trails that require a 4x4 to get through it down the road but right now just beginner build pretty much.
Same here im in cypress as well near 529 and 6.
Don’t think the Approach and Departure are too bad on the Burb which is what the lift will buy you would highly recommend going with smallest lift that will get you the biggest tires keeping your center of gravity as low as possible…one mistake I made even though after my lift was not upgrading springs and shocks from those that came with the BDS kit to account for body role ensuring rides stays stable like it is now …of course my advice is worth exactly what you paid for it ;-)
I completely understand what you mean trust me I know exactly how top heavy these buses are I have this 05 suburban and an 07 Tahoe both like to teeter totter if the road has curves like a fat kid in a candy store lol
You heading to the meet-up this weekend in Kyle?
Ill be there!!
