I'm curious where you got your information about registration of the M416. I have an M416 that is currently registered here in California. It has a VIN number and DMV issued license plate. Most M416 are registered as utility trailers.

Doh! apologies for delay.
Yes I had to register as a utility trailer but dmv said it's small enough not to require plates.
The "vin" is an 7 digit code.
