Snorkel Legality In California?

What are the laws on snorkels for California? I've been looking into them for when I buy my 4Runner, but from what I've read some people have had issues passing the visual smog test? Has anyone had this issue in California?

Does it matter where you live? For instance in Virginia where I lived before moving here three years ago, depending on your county you could get away with certain things. Is that the case here? If not, are there ways around it?

Snorkels are legal. Aslong as you dont remove the factory airbox.

If you do a full intake it needs to be CARB approved and has to have the sticker on it stating it is CARB legal.... most intakes are not CARB legal because of the hoops the manufacturers have to go through in order to get certified.....
