Wife and I went to our son't summer camp for one night and to bring him home so picked a little bit of a scenic route to get the rig off the pavement a little. Nothing serious at all. Mostly old logging and forest roads. Could have done it in a car but wouldn't have been much fun.

Basically wanted to just get a better feel for the rig off the pavement and play with Gaia GPS since there was no cellular coverage. Planned out our route and created it on Gaia, ran it on my Note 8 which was fun but will be getting my tablet mounted up somewhere.

I also really need to decide on a compressor setup. Running this with street pressure wasn't super fun. Washboards are pretty jumpy.

Looks like a blast. It doesn't have to be a trek on rough washed out paths to make it a great overland adventure for you and your wife.

Looks like that was a fun outing. One day I need to go up there and explore around. Dropping your tires to around 14 psi would have helped your ride, along with a sway-bar disconnect.
I run the Viair compressor, I believe its the 400H model. Its been hard mounted behind a rear panel for a while, so I don't remember the model number. Some of my friends run the 400P portable set up. It comes with a nice carry bag.
Ive had mine for several years and use to put it in a 50 cal ammo can when I used it for my jeep.
Very nice 4Runner by the way.

Edit: How is your gps screen mounted and what is it? You said you run gaia but I don't recognize the monitor. My son has an 18 4Runner and there is no room to mount things.

That mount looks like a perfect grip mount from Hondo Garage or an X-Grip from RAM. I did something similar in my 4Runner with ram mounts screwed into the side of the radio mount where it comes out from the dash (sideways). Holds the phone great, even with medium-hard wheeling.

Yup, it is a RAM mount X Grip holding my Samsung Note 8 phone. I drilled a hole in the side of the radio trim piece and mounted a ball there. It is nice and solid. Keeps the phone tucked away in a wasted space. I'm pretty happy with the spot.
