The class if free, and we dont have the dates for the work weekends yet. The El Dorado NF has not told us when we can get in there due to the fire and we normally dont get on the trail until mid May due to the winter closure.

In order to attend the class you will need to commit to at least one cleanup weekend on the Long Canyon Trail in the El Dorado NF.

Long Canyon is open for travel but is blocked 1/3 up by a 36” tree and snow at the campgrounds. The trail above that is blocked by snow and saplings and who knows what else. We won’t be able to get in there until the snow melts.
From the air down spot to the campground is totally burned with no cleanup work to do.

Silver Fork Road has a minimal fire damage but lots of understory burning.
Once you turn onto Long Canyon and pull up to the air down spot you can tell there was a fire.
The trail to the campgrounds has been consumed, very hot fire with mineral damage.
The campground area is intact with everything else around it burned. This tree is blocking the trail, we will schedule a work party to get the tree moved.

We will be holding a tire repair clinic on April 09 from 0900-1300 hrs. Please respond to this message as an RSVP even if you have told me in the past that you are attending.

This clinic is not only for new people but also for members to practice the skills you learned at past sessions.

Cost will be around $5 for materials.

We will practice; plugging, sidewall repair & valve stem replacement. We should have enough tires for everyone to practice on.

Explore the forest service roads along the Clavey River in search for epic camping locations. There will likely be some lingering snow banks and possibly downed trees that need to be removed from the road. I have located some potential camp sites along the River and plans to explore where we can. A planned route and campsite waypoints will be provided. Meetup will be the speedway gas station in Sonora, 13778 Mono Way, Sonora, CA 95370 at 2:30 pm departing at 3:00 pm Plan to camp Fri and Sat night and return on Sunday.

We had a great tire repair practice session Saturday at Dry Diggings Warehouse, 10 members participated plugging tires, sewing tires & replacing valve stems. We tried out a new sidewall patch by GlueTread.com it seems to work great but we are waiting for a report if it held up.
If there is enough interest we can do another one in the fall.

Ben Varozza from Varozza 4x4 Outfitters will talk about suspension upgrades. Ben is a suspension expert, and currently the lead builder for this year's Cal 4 Wheel Win A Jeep Giveaway.

• May 17, Kitchen Demo’s. Come set up your kitchen/camp and cook a meal, let’s all get inspiration from each other's builds.

Caravan to Expo West, starting Wednesday May 18 stopping in the Mojave Preserve Wednesday night. Travel to Flagstaff Thursday and set up camp.
